Today, April 12, 2017, Pope Francis has appointed Rev. Fr. Tadeusz Wojda SAC, Metropolitan Archbishop of Białystok, Poland. We express our deep gratitude to the Holy Father for this precious gift for the Society and for the entire Pallottine Family. We extend our congratulations to our confrere and wish him a joyful and prophetic episcopal ministry to the Church, in the spirit of our Founder, St. Vincent Pallotti. We also congratulate his family and especially his brother Fr. Krzysztof Wojda SAC, who lives and works in our community of Otwock, Poland.
Born January 29, 1957 in Kowala, Diocese of Kielce, Fr. Tadeusz, after the graduation exam (1976), entered in the Society and after having completed his philosophical and theological studies he was ordained a priest on May 8, 1983. Later he was in charge of the mission for the young people in the Secretariat for the Missions (1983-1984). In 1986 he obtained a License and in 1989 a Doctorate in Missiology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Urbe. On 1 January 1990 he was appointed by the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith, and in 1991 by the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. Since 1991, he worked as Chaplain of the Community of the Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo in Rome and since 1996 he was also Chaplain at the Education Centre of the Italian Red Cross for those suffering from motor disability. Fr. Wojda has made a great contribution to our Society having been General Secretary for the Missions from 1993 to 2003. In these ten years he has worked actively for the reflection, formation and growth of the missionary spirit in the entire Pallottine Family. In 2012 he was appointed Under-Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
The Episcopal Ordination is scheduled for 10 June 2017 in the Cathedral of Białystok.
I invite the confreres from around the world to remember and pray for the intentions of the newly appointed Archbishop. Mary, Queen of Apostles, Patroness of the Union of Catholic Apostolate and our holy Founder, St. Vincent Pallotti, accompany him and guide him in the exercise of his new ministry.
