Evening Prayer

Invocation of the Holy Spirit

L Come, Holy Spirit,
R Fill the hearts of your Faithful,
and kindle in them the fire of your love. (Alleluia.)
L

Send forth your Spirit, and they will be created. (Alleluia).

R And you will renew the face of the earth. (Alleluia).
L

Father, you taught the Faithful
through the inner light of the Holy Spirit.
In that same Spirit let us recognise what is right
and be always joyful in him who consoles us.
We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord.

R

Amen.

Prayer for the Community

L Most loving Virgin Mary, Mother of mercy,
Queen of the angels and saints,
our support and our hope,
R look with mercy on our community
which you have cherished from the beginning.
L

Guard it now and in the future
and bless it with continued growth.

R May poverty, chastity and obedience,
the spirit of prayer and the sharing of resources,
in a spirit of serving with the love of Christ,
remain alive in our hearts.
L

Preserve our Community from all harm,
especially from any danger of lukewarmness.

R Mary, our support and our hope,
obtain these blessings for us from your Son,
Our Lord Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.

Prayer to St Joseph

L Remember us, O Blessed Joseph,
and aid us by your powerful intercession
with your foster Son.
R May your virgin spouse,
Mary, the Mother of Christ,
be always gracious towards us.
Prayer to St Vincent Pallotti
L

Saint Vincent, our holy Founder,
you were chosen by God
to revive and promote in the Church the universal apostolate.

R Intercede for us with God
and for those inspired by your ideals,
especially by your love of God and neighbour,
so that they may seek in everything
the glory of God,
the destruction of sin and the salvation of all.

Blessing

God is love
and those who abide in love abide in God,
and God abides in them. (1 John 4:16).
Through the infinite mercy of God,
through the merits of our Saviour Jesus Christ,
through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
Queen of Apostles,
of our holy founder, St Vincent Pallotti,
and of all the angels and saints:
May the blessing of Almighty God,
the Father + and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
descend upon us and all our brothers and sisters,
and remain with us always.

R

Amen

Te Deum

You are God: we praise you;
You are the Lord: we acclaim you;
You are the eternal Father:
All creation worships you.
To you all angels, all the powers of heaven,
Cherubim and Seraphim, sing in endless praise:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
The glorious company of apostles praise you.
The noble fellowship of prophets praise you.
The white-robed army of martyrs praise you.
Throughout the world the holy Church acclaims you:
Father, of majesty unbounded,
your true and only Son, worthy of all worship,
and the Holy Spirit, advocate and guide.
You, Christ, are the King of glory,
the eternal Son of the Father.
When you became man to set us free
You did not spurn the Virgin’s womb.
You overcame the sting of death,
and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers.
You are seated at God’s right hand in glory.
We believe that you will come, and be our judge.
Come then, Lord, and help your people
bought with the price of your own blood,
and bring us with your saints
to glory everlasting.

(The following part of the hymn may be omitted:)

L Save your people, Lord, and bless your inheritance.
R Govern and uphold them now and always.
L

Day by day we bless you.

R We praise your name for ever.
L

Keep us today, Lord, from all sin.

R Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy.
L

Lord, show us your love and mercy;

R for we put our trust in you.
L In you, Lord, is our hope:
R and we shall never hope in vain.
