Community

There are seven members of the Pallottine Fathers living together in community. We come together at different parts of the day for mass, adoration and community prayer. Our Founder St. Vincent Pallotti wrote “that the house of Nazareth must be the rule for our Houses and holy retreats of our minimal Congregation”. It is a place of welcome, rest and prayer. This year 2009 we celebrate our centenary of the Pallottines coming in Ireland.

Location

In the heart of Thurles Town you will find the Pallottine Retreat House. Our house can accommodate up to 40 guests for a retreat weekend. Our house is surrounded by lovely gardens for the retreatant to take time out to pray and reflect on God’s creation. You can take time out to pray in our Rosary Garden or do the Stations of Cross as you walk and reflect. There is also a chapel in the gardens to ponder and reflect.

Retreat Team

Fr. Emmet O’Hara SCA is co-ordinator of the retreats in Thurles. Alongside him are Fr. Matthew Sanka SCA (Mission promoter) and Fr. John Egan SCA who make up the retreat team. We offer different types of retreats to cater for all needs. We focus especially on the spirituality of our founder St. Vincent Pallotti. Our ministry takes us to schools to give retreats and we give parish missions.

We also give days of prayer for the Legion of Mary, St. Vincent de Paul, the Pioneer’s, and for Parish Pastoral Council’s. Our aim is to bring people away from the hustle and bustle of life so that they can encounter God’s love for them.

Fr. Pat Dwyer SCA gives healing of the family tree retreats once a month (for more information contact the address below).

Getting There

Coming into the Town of Thurles our house is located directly opposite the Topaz Petrol Station on Kickham  Street

If you are coming by train get off at Thurles Train Station and get a taxi from the station to our Community House or you can walk down the town and it will take 15mins.
